On the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion I reflect on my visits to the invasion beaches.
Walking up on one of the beaches on a beautiful summer day took two minutes at a casual pace, compared to 12 hours of hell. The beauty and tranquility of the memorial sites contrasted with the full brutality of war. I stood before a flag pole at Omaha Beach and said The Pledge of Allegiance with tears streaming down my face. I sang "O Canada" at Juno Beach while my voice and lips quivered. I am forever grateful for the sacrifice of the men and women who have helped instill/restore/maintain liberty.
